HLS Pharmacies was formed in August of 1995 when a window of opportunity opened as consolidation was occurring in the retail pharmacy and home medical equipment marketplace. The principals of HLS believed that rural and semi-rural areas of southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois, and the Texas Rio Grand Valley would become "underserved markets" due not only to consolidation, but also to lack of interest from mass merchandisers, drug chains, and national home medical equipment providers.
The mission of HLS Pharmacies is to actively pursue business interests designed to fill this void. Areas of specialization for HLS Pharmacies would include retail pharmacy services, long term care pharmacy services, home medical equipment services and disease state management services for residents living in those underserved geographic areas.
